Reading focus: Pete the Cat
Pete the Cat is a children's picture book series created by illustrator James Dean, who invented Pete in 1999 and self-published the first book in 2006. Eric Litwin wrote a story about and a song for the cat, That's how their partnership started. However, after four collaborative books, their partnership ended in 2011. Since then, James Dean and his wife Kimberly have been co-writing the Pete the Cat series, which now includes more than 60 books.
Due to the popularity right from the start of the first book, the publisher HarperCollins took notice and started selling it in Canada and the United States. The book became famous and reached the eighth position on the New York Times Bestseller list for picture books. Additionally, "Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes" was included in the "25 Books all Young Georgians Should Read List".
In English class, we read the book "Rocking in My School Shoes". Pete, the groovy, blue cat, doesn't let anything bother him and he continues his journey happily singing. Below, you'll find the links to a Read Along Book and an Animated Read Aloud Book.

In the English lesson, we also sang the song and, as a conclusion, designed new shoes for Pete so that he can stay stylish and cool when going to school in the future - and we are rocking with him.
